Bionamic gets powered by millions

Zero-emission electric car powered by solar energy.

The enhancement in solar technology has made it possible for car designers to incorporate tiny solar modules on the body of the car to generate energy on the move. The Bionamic by Güney Kol is one such car that will use the technology to perfection. The electrically-powered four-wheeler is designed with a stunning visual appeal and an eye toward practicality as well.

Like all electric cars, this one too requires a lightweight yet strong body, which in this case is made from a passive elastic sheathing made of carbon/metal nanotube alloy. Apart from the elastic exterior, the car also carries a tougher layer, which is a carbon nanotube muscle suit. The muscle suit houses millions of tiny solar modules that are precisely positioned to get the most out of the sun.

Apart from the on-board solar electricity generators, the car also makes use of an Ion Intake System that absorbs ions from the environment and converts them into usable energy to propel the car. Instead of a conventional steering wheel, the car is controlled by a pair of joysticks that are placed to make driving easier.

Cellphone charger harnesses the change in body temperature for a recharge

Thermoelectric cellphone concept charger.

Tired of solar and wind-powered recharging solutions for your portable devices? Here is something entirely different – a charger that can be worn on your wrist for a quick cellphone recharge. No, it doesn’t harness the energy of motion, but actually generates electricity from the minor changes in the temperature of your wrist.

Based on the thermoelectric effect, the charger carries an on-board thermocouple that generates electricity by directly converting the temperature differences to electric voltage, which is not as much to give you a shock every now and then, but enough to power your cellphone for a little while when it’s utmost necessary.

Magnet-powered vehicle for hi-tech cities of tomorrow

Zero emission concept car powered by magnetic field.

With concept designers crafting their fantasies into a consumable form, we believe that the era of tomorrow would be completely different than present days. Harsha Vardhan, a car designer, thinks that apart from the cities, cars too would be completely different and powered by technologies no car manufacturer has tried till date. He fantasizes a car powered by magnetic field generated by on-board electricity powered systems.

The Transporter TW (Twin Wheel) is based around an electric engine which produces a magnetic field to drive the large wheels. The wheel rims are suspended over a superconducting fluid where the changing magnetic field produces the motion needed to propel the vehicle. The power generator and motion is thus smooth, nearly noiseless and green. The occupant of the vehicle sits perched in a cockpit and operates the vehicle. He sits in a swivel seat, and he enters or leaves through a port at the rear of the cockpit.
