Cellphone charger harnesses the change in body temperature for a recharge

Thermoelectric cellphone concept charger.

Tired of solar and wind-powered recharging solutions for your portable devices? Here is something entirely different – a charger that can be worn on your wrist for a quick cellphone recharge. No, it doesn’t harness the energy of motion, but actually generates electricity from the minor changes in the temperature of your wrist.

Based on the thermoelectric effect, the charger carries an on-board thermocouple that generates electricity by directly converting the temperature differences to electric voltage, which is not as much to give you a shock every now and then, but enough to power your cellphone for a little while when it’s utmost necessary.
